The mBridge (Multiple CBDC Bridge) project is an international blockchain-based platform for instant cross-border payments in central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), launched in 2021. The project makes currency transactions faster, cheaper, and more transparent, enabling settlements outside the US dollar system, which contributes to de-dollarization.
Initiators: the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) together with the central banks of China, Hong Kong, Thailand, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
