The Most Expensive Thing in the World!

Since we’ve already launched into space topics – let’s keep going. What do you think you can buy for $150 billion? No, it’s not a gold-covered palace or an island shaped like a unicorn. The most expensive thing ever created by humankind is the International Space Station (ISS).

The ISS is a massive orbital laboratory circling the Earth at a speed of around 28,000 km/h (17,500 mph). It’s not a single-country project – it’s a global collaboration of 15 nations, including the US, Canada, Japan, Russia, and various European countries.

The station has been continuously inhabited since November 2, 2000, with astronauts on board conducting scientific experiments, testing new technologies, and observing how the human body behaves in microgravity (spoiler: not great without dumbbells).

The construction and launch of the ISS are estimated to have cost $150 billion, making it the most expensive object in history – earning it a spot in the Guinness World Records.

On top of that, operating the station costs about $3 billion per year – roughly a third of NASA’s entire human spaceflight budget.

Why does it matter?

The ISS is more than a pricey hunk of metal floating above us. It’s a symbol of international cooperation, a scientific testbed, and a stepping stone to future missions beyond Earth.

? Conclusion:
The most expensive thing in the world isn’t on Earth – it’s above it. The ISS proves that when humanity works together, we can literally build space.
