Revolution of Siri AI

At WWDC 2026, Apple presented the largest update of Siri in the entire history of the voice assistant. The new version was named Siri AI and became the central element of the Apple Intelligence ecosystem – an artificial intelligence platform the company has been working on in recent years.

If earlier Siri was often criticized for its limited capabilities compared to competitors, now Apple is trying to radically change the situation. In essence, Siri AI is transforming from a simple voice assistant into a personal digital assistant capable of understanding context, analyzing images, working with applications, and performing complex tasks across almost the entire Apple ecosystem.

One of the most discussed features became the ability to analyze food photos. Now a user can simply take a picture of their breakfast, lunch or dinner and send the image to Siri AI. The system is able to recognize products, evaluate their composition, and approximately calculate the calorie content of the meal. For millions of people who monitor their diet, exercise, or try to control their weight, this may become a convenient alternative to manual calorie counting in specialized applications.

However, food recognition is only a small part of the new capabilities. Apple has integrated artificial intelligence into almost all key applications of the operating system. Siri AI gained access to calendar, mail, messages, files, notes, photos, browser, and many other services. Now the assistant is able to take into account information from multiple sources at once and perform tasks that previously required user involvement.

For example, Siri will be able to analyze conversations, search for information in notes, check documents, and generate answers based on full context. If a user asks to find data from an old email or recall the content of a specific document, the system can independently search the device and provide the result.

A particularly important innovation became the integration of Siri with Spotlight – the built-in search system of Apple. Thanks to this, artificial intelligence gains access to almost all content on the device. Files, notes, messages, contacts, documents, and other data can be used to generate more accurate and personalized responses.

Apple is also focusing on deep integration of artificial intelligence with visual information. Siri AI learned to determine location from a photo. If a user uploads an image of a building, street, landmark, or natural object, the system can attempt to identify the shooting location and provide additional information about the place.

Another unexpected step was cooperation with Google. Despite competition between the companies, Apple confirmed integration of the Gemini neural network into the Siri AI ecosystem. This means that for certain tasks the assistant will be able to use one of the most powerful language models in the world. Thus Apple gains an additional tool to compete with other AI platforms.

Major changes also affected the user interface. Instead of the familiar animation, Siri is now closely linked with Dynamic Island. Notifications, answers, hints, and interactive elements will appear directly in this screen area. Apple aims to make interaction with artificial intelligence more natural and less intrusive, so that the user can receive necessary information without switching between applications.

For the first time, Siri AI also received its own separate application. This allows the assistant to be used as an independent hub for tasks and requests. On Mac computers, the new Siri AI is integrated directly into Spotlight, making artificial intelligence part of the main system navigation. Apple paid special attention to personalization. Users will be able to change the assistant’s voice, adjust communication style, and choose different interaction options.

Among the upcoming features is also the possibility of placing orders. In the future, Siri AI will be able to independently order food, book services, find event tickets, and perform other actions through third-party services. For example, a user could ask the assistant to find tickets for a concert or festival, compare options, and help complete the purchase.

For Apple it is especially important to show that the development of artificial intelligence does not contradict its traditional approach to data security. The company emphasizes that a significant part of request processing is performed directly on the device without transferring information to external servers. If additional computing power is required, the Apple Private Cloud Compute system is used – a special cloud infrastructure with enhanced data protection mechanisms.

Despite the scale of the update, the launch will be limited. In the first phase, Siri AI will work only in English and will be available exclusively on new devices. Support is announced for iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air, Mac computers with M3 chips and newer, as well as iPads with the M4 chip.

In effect Apple is creating a new category of products within its own ecosystem. If previously the voice assistant was only an additional feature of a smartphone or computer, now Siri AI becomes the central element of user interaction with the device. Artificial intelligence gains access to data, applications, communications, and visual information, becoming a universal intermediary between humans and the digital world.

For Apple this is not just a Siri update. It is an attempt to regain leadership in the artificial intelligence race and show that the company is ready to compete with the largest AI platforms in the world. And if the announced capabilities are fully realized, Siri AI may become the most significant update of the ecosystem since the launch of the iPhone itself.
