5 life hacks that turn the “chatty assistant” Claude into a true expert!

The secret to getting strong answers often lies not in writing a long prompt, but in using one well-chosen phrase. Here are five techniques that really work.

1. “Interview me”

Write this phrase before a complex task, and the AI won’t start guessing. Instead, it will first ask clarifying questions.

For example, if you need to create a landing page, a business plan, or a marketing strategy, the AI will first find out who your audience is, what goals you’re pursuing, who your competitors are, and what constraints exist. As a result, the answer becomes much more accurate.

2. “Teach me using the Socratic method”

If you don’t just want an answer but truly want to understand the topic, ask the AI to use the Socratic method.

Instead of giving you a lecture, it will ask questions that guide you toward the right conclusions. This approach helps you understand the material better and remember it much longer.

3. “UltraThink” or “Think deeply”

Add this phrase to your prompt when the task requires serious analysis.

The AI will spend more effort reasoning, consider more possibilities, identify weak points, and provide a more balanced solution. This is especially useful for business, programming, analytics, and complex projects.

4. “Second-order thinking”

Ask the AI to analyze not only the immediate outcome but also the next-level consequences.

For example, instead of asking:

“What will happen if I lower my prices?”

ask:

“Analyze this using second-order thinking.”

The AI will show not only the immediate increase in sales but also possible long-term consequences, such as lower profit margins, changes in brand perception, price wars with competitors, and other risks.

5. “Inversion”

Instead of asking:

“How can I succeed?”

ask:

“In what ways could this project fail for sure?”

This will give you a list of the mistakes that most often lead to failure. In essence, it’s a ready-made checklist of what to avoid.

These techniques work not only in ChatGPT but also in Claude, Gemini, Grok, Copilot, and most modern AI models.

Sometimes adding just one short phrase is enough to noticeably improve the quality of the response.

One important note: these phrases are not “magic commands,” and they don’t guarantee the best possible answer every time. Their strength lies in helping guide the model toward the right style of reasoning and interaction.

Save this post so you don’t lose it, and try at least one of these techniques today. The result may pleasantly surprise you.
