💰 Gold is not only a symbol of wealth and luxury but also an important material in modern electronics and technology. While we usually associate it with jewelry, this precious metal has firmly entered everyday life — it’s found in your smartphones, household appliances, and even cars!

Where to Find Gold in Electronics?

Modern gadgets — smartphones, tablets, laptops, gaming consoles — contain many small parts with gold plating. These include circuit boards, connectors, and memory chips coated with a thin layer of gold. This improves electrical conductivity and corrosion protection, helping devices last longer and work more reliably.

Although the amount of gold in one device is small, the huge volumes of manufactured and discarded electronics create significant potential for gold recovery. Motherboards of computers are especially valuable — with dozens or hundreds of gold-plated contacts and connectors.

Gold in Household Appliances

Don’t rush to throw away your microwave or old refrigerator! Besides their main function of heating, microwaves also have gold-plated elements on their circuit boards. Refrigerators and air conditioners often contain connectors and switches with gold coating — all designed to ensure reliable operation and prevent contact corrosion.

Gold in Cars

Cars are real mini-computers on wheels. Gold is used in electronic control units for airbags, anti-lock braking systems, and other electronic systems. Sometimes gold even coats parts of the car’s insulation for enhanced reliability and durability.

So next time you’re dismantling old tech, remember: you might have a real treasure hidden right at home!
