The Dow Jones (full name — Dow Jones Industrial Average, or DJIA) is one of the oldest and most well-known U.S. stock indices. It includes 30 of the largest and most significant companies, such as Apple, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Boeing.
This index is often used as a “thermometer” of the U.S. economy, although it covers fewer companies than the S&P 500.
