🤖 25,000 Chips Already Secured – 90,000 More Needed
China has launched the construction of a massive data center in the desert region of Xinjiang. It is designed to power artificial intelligence technologies and is expected to become one of the largest in the world.
According to Bloomberg, the facility is set to operate using over 115,000 Nvidia chips — despite the current U.S. export ban on such hardware to China.
At the moment, China has around 25,000 chips — enough for a mid-tier AI center.
To support large-scale operations with next-generation models, at least 90,000 more GPUs will be required.
The project is backed by state institutions and major Chinese tech companies. It is expected to serve both domestic needs and support military and research-oriented AI programs.
💡 Industry comment:
“This is part of the global race for computing power. China understands: whoever controls AI will set the rules of the game in the future,” — says AI market analyst John Lee.
