Amazon: robots instead of employees?

🤖 Amazon is rewriting the rules of the game again — and it seems, not in favor of people. According to internal documents published by The New York Times, the company plans to fully automate up to 75% of its operations by 2033 and cut more than 600,000 jobs in the United States alone.

The goal is not just optimization but doubling sales volume without increasing staff. In other words, Amazon aims to do more, faster, and cheaper — with machines that don’t need lunch breaks, vacations, or health insurance.

Robots are taking over

At the company’s new warehouses, thousands of smart machines are already sorting, packing, and moving goods with precision unattainable to humans. Robots with names like Proteus, Sparrow, and Digit can not only lift and transport boxes but also “understand” what’s inside them using computer vision and machine learning.

Some models already work side by side with humans, but as new data shows, “side by side” will soon become “instead of.”

What will happen to people

Amazon officially claims that there will be no mass unemployment: instead of laid-off warehouse workers, new technical positions will appear — engineers, AI operators, and robot maintenance specialists.
However, analysts note that far fewer new jobs are being created than are disappearing. And not all employees will be able to retrain, especially in small towns where warehouses are the only major employers.

Experts are already calling this “the beginning of a new industrial revolution,” where artificial intelligence and automation are replacing low-skilled labor.

Amazon: robots instead of employees? ⚙️ The future is here

Amazon views automation as an inevitable stage of business evolution. The company is investing billions of dollars in robotics, AI, and “smart” logistics networks.
According to management estimates, full implementation of autonomous systems will allow Amazon to reduce costs by 30–40% and increase profits without expanding staff.

Only one question remains: what will happen when robots start buying goods from each other?
