The Market Is Hitting Records!

The US stock market continues to move higher and is setting new records. The S&P 500 index reached another all-time high, joining the Dow Jones, which had already updated its peak earlier. The rally is broad-based and supported by both large-cap stocks and the small-cap segment.

The Russell 2000 has come very close to its record closing level, indicating that the rally is expanding beyond a narrow group of mega-cap stocks. The Nasdaq has confidently held above its 10-day moving average, confirming the preservation of short-term bullish momentum, especially in the technology sector.

Growth Leaders and Key Sectors

A significant contribution to the rise of the Dow Jones came from Amazon (AMZN) shares. The stock showed strong movement, adding roughly 500 points to the index. This is a signal that investors continue to actively move into large growth companies despite elevated valuations.

The IBD 50 ETF (FFTY), which reflects the performance of the strongest growth stocks, retested its 50-day moving average, a pattern often viewed as technically healthy market behavior during a growth phase. This indicates the market’s readiness for further upside, provided the macro backdrop remains supportive.

The gold mining sector has once again come into focus. Shares of Hecla Mining, Gold Fields, and AngloGold Ashanti are showing resilience amid interest in defensive assets. Rising gold prices and geopolitical uncertainty continue to support demand for companies involved in precious metals mining.

In the healthcare and technology segment, Guardant Health, operating in the field of liquid biopsies, Globus Medical, which develops innovative solutions for spinal surgery, and Intuitive Surgical stand out. These stocks are approaching important technical levels and appear ready for a potential breakout, making them attractive to active investors.

The data storage sector also deserves special attention. Sandisk shares surged by about 27%, delivering a powerful breakout from a seven-week base. Seagate gained around 13% and continues to rise after breaking out from an ascending base. Demand for data storage infrastructure remains solid amid the development of AI, cloud services, and corporate data centers.

Oil and the Geopolitical Factor

Venezuela. The deal involves the supply of approximately 30-50 million barrels of oil sold at market prices, with revenue control exercised by the US side. The market reacted calmly: oil prices showed a moderate decline without sharp moves.

Investors understand that Venezuela’s volumes are insufficient to radically change the global supply-demand balance. Nevertheless, short-term volatility persists, and additional attention will be paid to inventory and production data next week.

Investor Takeaway

Current market dynamics confirm the dominance of growth stocks and the technology sector. The priority remains working with entry points and holding positions in strong stocks rather than trying to catch pullbacks amid an overall upward trend.

Gold and commodity assets remain relevant as diversification elements against the backdrop of geopolitical news and currency risks. The oil market remains in a mode of short-term fluctuations, but there are currently no fundamental prerequisites for a sharp change in global prices.

In the near term, key market reference points will be oil inventory data (API and EIA), corporate earnings, and confirmation or invalidation of current technical breakouts. For now, the overall backdrop remains positive, and the trend is on the side of buyers.
