Hardware without compromises

Redmi decided to remind the market that a smartphone can not only count steps and get warm in your pocket, but also sound like a real device, not a compromise. In the new flagship Redmi K90 Pro Max, the company will add something that has long been missing in mobile devices — a true subwoofer.

The K90 Pro Max will become the first smartphone with a real 2.1 audio system, not just marketing “enhanced speakers.” In addition to standard stereo speakers, the device will have a separate subwoofer dedicated specifically to low frequencies. This means deeper bass, a more tangible soundstage, and audio that doesn’t break apart at high volume.

Engineers built the subwoofer into the back panel of the smartphone, allowing it to maintain IP68 protection. In simple terms, the phone is not afraid of water or dust, and at the same time doesn’t turn into a brick with holes for speakers. The good old approach: first the design, then marketing — not the other way around.

Hardware without compromises

As for the hardware, the K90 Pro Max strictly follows flagship standards:

  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite — top-tier next-generation processor focused on performance and energy efficiency

  • 2K display with high pixel density and, likely, flagship refresh rate
  • 50MP camera with periscope — a focus on quality zoom without “muddy” shots or digital focusing

Redmi is clearly targeting the segment where a smartphone must do everything at once: play, shoot, work, and not be ashamed of its own sound.

Why does a smartphone need a subwoofer? Most manufacturers have long accepted that sound in a smartphone is “just enough to be heard.” Redmi, apparently, decided to go against the flow. A subwoofer in a phone is not about “replacing speakers” but about quality perception: movies, games, short videos, and even voice sound richer and more natural when proper low frequencies are present.

This is especially relevant given the growing consumption of content directly on smartphones. Headphones are not always available, a Bluetooth speaker even less so, but the phone is always at hand.

Hardware without compromises

Conclusion:

The Redmi K90 Pro Max looks like an attempt to bring engineering boldness back into smartphones, rather than just another list of numbers in a presentation. Subwoofer, full 2.1 sound, top hardware, and IP68 protection — a rare combination that makes the device stand out among similar flagships.

If everything announced is confirmed in the final version, the K90 Pro Max could become the smartphone people say: finally made it properly. Not the loudest — but the best.
