⚡ Kevin Hassett is rapidly coming to the forefront as the leading candidate to replace Jerome Powell as the chair of the Federal Reserve System. According to Bloomberg, it was Hassett who made the strongest impression on Trump during informal “auditions” for the key position, and he is now considered the frontrunner in the race to lead the world’s most important central bank.

Hassett is well known in U.S. economic and political circles. For many years, he was part of Trump’s inner circle, headed the National Economic Council, actively shaped the White House’s economic agenda, and became one of the ideologists of “Trumponomics.” His approach differs significantly from the current Fed policy: Hassett openly states that the central bank’s rate has “stayed” at too high a level and that the economy needs more aggressive monetary easing.

This perspective is already reflected in the markets. Investors are increasingly pricing in expectations of a looser monetary policy in 2026. The U.S. dollar index DXY continues to decline, showing a reaction to a potential policy shift. The yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds has dropped to around 4 percent — market participants are clearly preparing for a new round of rate cuts.

The White House signals that the suspense will not last long. The Treasury Secretary has already confirmed that Donald Trump plans to announce the new Fed chair by December 25. In fact, this means that one of the most important personnel signals of the decade is now on the immediate horizon for the markets.

Hassett’s appointment as head of the Federal Reserve could become a turning point not only for the global economy but also for the crypto market. Historically, a more accommodative Fed policy leads to lower bond yields, a weaker dollar, and increased appetite for risk assets — from tech stocks to bitcoin. It is not surprising that some analysts directly say that Hassett’s appointment could become a “catalyst for a new crypto boom.”

🔎 This dynamic is enhanced by current market expectations: the probability that the Fed will cut rates already in December has risen to 84.8 percent. Investors are watching every signal closely, understanding that a new chapter in the U.S. monetary policy story may begin in the coming weeks.
