🚀 The founder of Telegram and VKontakte, Pavel Durov, officially announced the launch of a new decentralized network called Cocoon during his speech at Blockchain Life 2025 in Dubai (as we reported earlier).
According to Durov, the project will combine the power of artificial intelligence and the TON blockchain, opening the door to the creation of mini-apps, bots, and crypto services within Telegram.
The name Cocoon stands for Confidential Compute Open Network.
The idea is both simple and ambitious: to make artificial intelligence truly decentralized and secure. While most AI services today are controlled by large corporations, Cocoon offers an alternative — a distributed network where computations are performed without data leaks and under community governance.
A key feature of the project is that GPU owners will be able to connect their hardware to the Cocoon network and earn rewards for providing computing power to process AI requests.
Rewards will be paid in Toncoin, the native cryptocurrency of the TON blockchain. Essentially, users will be able to turn their GPUs into “intelligent nodes” of a global network — mining not just tokens, but computational power for neural networks.
“We are building an ecosystem where everyone can contribute to the development of decentralized AI while maintaining full data privacy,” Durov emphasized.
According to him, Telegram will serve as the main platform for the implementation of Cocoon — this is where next-generation AI tools, bots, and mini-apps will be deployed. Experts believe the project could become the biggest catalyst for the mass adoption of Web3 technologies in everyday communications.
The launch of Cocoon is scheduled for November 2025, and applications are already open for hardware providers and developers. The TON team has announced the start of infrastructure testing and Telegram API integration.
Analysts note that Cocoon could significantly reshape the decentralized computing market, where projects like Render and Bittensor are already active competitors. However, Cocoon’s advantage lies in the Telegram ecosystem, where Durov already has millions of users and a powerful distribution channel.
